Clark County has built a desert tortoise habitat at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.

IOn July of 2006 Clark County will adopt a female desert tortoise
and move it to this new desert tortoise habitat.

Meet Cactus Cate, Clark County's new resident at the Government Center. She was named by Jessica Petrillo and Laura Bruni-Bondi, the tortoise naming contest winners!

The famous “Mojave Max” was also named through a contest in 1985.  Mojave Max continues to live at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

The winners were invited to the Clark County desert tortoise adoption event on July 12, 2006.
